Elgin, IL – February 2, 2015: With today’s focus on clean and sustainable energy, fabric architecture is proving to be an interesting platform for harnessing the power of the sun. Collaborating with the designers of SDA (Synthesis Design Architecture) and Buro Happold, Fabric Images, Inc.® teamed up to convert solar power into electricity using fabric architecture as the platform to capture this energy source.
The deployable fabric-based structure that can charge the new electric Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid is in the October issue of Fast Company. As mentioned by Jason Gillette in the featurette about "The Future of Transit", “this charger is a new version of freedom. It’s the idea that you can set off and don’t have to think about how much it will cost or even where you’re going.”
While many thought of this as simply a concept, the reality is actually being brought to life via the specialists at Fabric Images. Stay tuned...
