Elgin, IL – October 16, 2018: Fabric Images, Inc.®, a global manufacturer of printed and non-printed tension fabric architectural solutions, proudly announces the win of two awards in this year’s Industrial Fabrics Association International Achievement Awards. The awards were announced during the annual conference in Dallas, TX on October 17th.
Receiving the Award of Excellence in the Fabric Graphics category, as well as Best in Category- Fabric Environments, is the “Pineapple House”, a collaboration with Glow Studio. Produced using a digitally printed fabric over aluminum structure, the 22ft tall house has more than a dome-like shape; it is geodesic in nature (like a pineapple). The fabric on the main structure was created in 22 tiles. The graphics were distorted in pre-flight to allow for the three-dimensional wraparound once applied to the frame. Once installed, the structure offered a playful environment for guests and was named best on the show floor by the Los Angeles Times.
Additionally, Fabric Images, Inc. was awarded the Award of Excellence in the Fabric Art category for the “Parallex Gap” layered ceiling, a partnership with FreelandBuck. The 3,100 square foot canopy showcases the artistic nature of textiles and the flexibility to achieve a complex design. The canopy is brought to life through eight specifically positioned graphic layers that interpret the line drawings of nine iconic American ceilings from the 19th and 20th centuries. Fabric Images achieved the design using a custom, non-woven material that was digitally printed, custom CNC cut, and finished with tension using an extrusion perimeter frame.
As stated by Brennan Buck from FreelandBuck, “Fabric Images was willing to work with us over a number of years on several speculative projects while we developed the material and design strategies to execute Parallax Gap. Fabric Images is open to experimentation and multiple ways of executing a project, but they also have the expertise and proprietary products and materials to produce very high-quality results.”
This is Fabric Images’ fourth consecutive year being awarded in the Industrial Fabrics Association International Achievement Awards.
